Why Pikomi?
3 or 4 years ago I saw a couple of her drawings in a book shop in Berlin - and loved them. I bought the artbook - but it remained a dream until now to have at least one of her paintings as a print for my living room - I already have a fitting antique frame - it would look lovely <3

Battle of Nations 2013 - I was there :)

Things came into my way...

MEH

ENGLISH:

Yay, my weekend was stressful but yet awesome :>

I visited the city of Leipzig in Saxony, Germany last weekend in order to see the reenactment of the Battle of the Nations which took place in October 1813. So it was the 200-year jubilee of this battle. Therefor it was performed by 6.000 reenactors from 26 countries and with 250 participating horses, over 50 heavy artillery guns and 35.000 visitors.
Leipzig indeed is a very beautiful town and the battle monument (which was built 100 years later to remember this giant battle) is really huge.
Together with my friends I visited the city Halle where people I know live. They suffered hard from the flood this year and so their house, which lies only a couple meters away from the river Saale, was only half-rebuilt. But they managed to welcome us more than friendly and I felt very comfortable at their place.
We managed to see the famous exhibition of Yadegar Asisi, that shows a 3-dimensional Panorama of the city of Leipzig during the battle.
Yap, we had to wait for a loooong time to get in, but this was really worth it.

So, why do I tell ya all tis things? Because a dear friend of mine was kind and lend me a proper camera to take photos. And so I tried my luck at the battlefield. It was really hard because there were thousands of people and I stood in the second row - so many of the pictures are crap.
But I hope some of them will be good enough as painting references ;)

Please understand that I will need some time to sort them and to adjust the contrasts. I will need even more time to name them properly, because I need to identify the military name and type correctly. And, there is also a bunch of photos from the stallion parade - I only managed to upload the half of them yet. Of course I'll give you a tiny sneak preview ;)

I hope you like my pictures and that they're a good help for drawing horses and riders ;)

DEUTSCH:

Hallo zusammen,

</a> anzuschauen.
